For small businesses

Practical technology for small businesses

Help with websites, systems, IT and automation — without the cost or complexity of a large agency. You deal with the person doing the work, and you get a fixed price before anything starts.

Three working demos further down — a website, a booking system and the dashboard behind them.

What I do

Four kinds of work

Most jobs are one of these, or a combination. If what you need isn't here, it's still worth asking.

Websites

Modern websites that help customers find you, understand what you do and get in touch.

  • New websites for businesses that don't have one
  • Redesigns of sites that look dated or don't work on a phone
  • Enquiry and quote request forms that reach you properly
  • Booking and appointment forms
  • Being findable when someone searches locally
  • Knowing how many people actually visit and what they do

Automation

Connect your systems and cut out repetitive admin, so the same information stops being typed in three times.

  • Enquiries recorded automatically instead of by hand
  • Confirmation emails sent without you remembering
  • Forms that feed straight into your spreadsheets
  • Quotes, invoices and documents generated from a template
  • Reminders that go out on time
  • Sensible use of AI where it genuinely saves time

Custom systems

When spreadsheets and paperwork stop keeping up, a system that holds your jobs, customers and quotes in one place.

  • Tracking jobs from enquiry through to invoice
  • Keeping customer details in one place
  • Bookings and scheduling
  • Stock and equipment
  • Quotes and pricing
  • A dashboard showing where things actually stand

IT support

The day-to-day things that stop work, dealt with by someone local who can come out.

  • Setting up computers for new staff
  • Business email on your own domain
  • Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace
  • Shared files that work from anywhere
  • Backups that actually run
  • Printers, networks and everything that has stopped

Examples

See what I can build

Three working examples you can actually use. Every business here is invented, and the three demos share one set of data — make a booking and it turns up as a job in the dashboard, which is rather the point.

Guided walkthrough

See how it could work for your business

See how a customer booking becomes a managed job — or follow a quote request all the way through to payment. Both run the real demos below, and you can pause either one at any point.

Two examples of the same system. Or explore the three demos yourself — they all still work on their own.

Interactive demo — nothing is sent

Online booking system

Two things a customer might need: a routine appointment, or a price for something that has to be looked at first. Work through either — whatever you send arrives in the dashboard alongside, photos included.

What do you need?

From the first enquiry to the final payment, everything stays connected. Works the same for garages, hairdressers, tutors — anyone whose day is a diary.

Business management dashboard

The system a small firm runs on once spreadsheets stop coping. Open the quote request, look at the customer's photos, price it, and follow it through to a job, an invoice and a recorded payment — without typing anything twice.

    Website concept

    Vehicle workshop website concept

A complete example showing how a local vehicle workshop could present its services and take booking enquiries online — servicing, MOT testing and repairs, with a six-step enquiry that asks for the registration, the symptoms and a photo.

Built as a speculative concept for a Wiltshire garage, using only details that business publishes publicly. It is not that company's website, and nothing sent through it reaches them.

The same approach suits any workshop or garage whose services are invisible online.

Every business works differently. If you have a website, system or process you'd like to improve, get in touch and tell me what you need.

    Discuss your project

    How a project runs

    No surprises

Small businesses get burned by open-ended technology projects. This is how I avoid that.

    1. A conversation first

What's the actual problem, what would fixing it be worth, and is technology even the right answer? Sometimes it isn't, and I'll tell you.

    2. A written fixed price

You get a clear description of what's included and what it costs before anything is built. If the scope changes, we agree that separately.

    3. Built, handed over, supported

I'll show you how to use it and how to change the everyday things yourself. Ongoing support is available, but you're not locked into it.

Being small is the point. You get the person doing the work.

I have a Computer Science degree and run this on my own from East Wiltshire. That means no account managers, no minimum retainer and no agency overheads on your invoice — and it also means I'll be straight with you about the limits.

    • You always know what something costs before it starts.
    • What I build is yours — no proprietary lock-in.
    • If a job is too big for one person, I'll say so rather than take it on.
    • Plain English in writing, not technical documents you have to decode.

On search: I'll build the site so it's structured properly and can be found locally. What nobody can honestly promise is a particular position on Google — anyone guaranteeing rankings is selling you something they don't control. The same goes for automation: it can remove specific repetitive tasks, not run your business for you.

    Costs

    Roughly what it costs

Prices depend on the work required. You'll always know the cost before work begins.

    From £500

    Websites

A straightforward business site starts here. The final price depends on the pages, the content and what the site needs to do — things like online booking or quote forms are quoted on top of that.

    From £50/hour

    IT support

On-site or remote. For one-off problems as well as regular help — there's no minimum commitment.

    Per project Quoted

    Systems & automation

Priced once the scope is clear. Larger builds can be split into stages so you're not committing to all of it at once.

Whatever the job, you get a fixed price in writing before anything is built. Initial conversations and quotes are free.

    Got a problem worth solving?

Send me a short enquiry and I'll tell you whether it's worth doing something about — and roughly what it would take. No charge for that conversation.
