About
Hello, I'm Josh
I run WiltshireTech on my own from East Wiltshire. It's a local technology service for people who want a straight answer and a person who turns up — not a call centre, and not a quote with an account manager attached.
Why I started this
I have a Computer Science degree from UWE Bristol. The thing I kept coming back to throughout it was how often technology problems aren't really technology problems — they're someone being spoken to in language they were never given a reason to understand.
My own family are the reason this exists. Watching someone competent and capable be made to feel stupid by a router, or told to "just reset your credentials", is what convinced me there was a service worth running here. So the rule I've set myself is simple: explain it in plain English, or don't say it.
WiltshireTech is new, and I'd rather say so than pretend to a decade of trading I haven't done. What I can point you to is the work itself — this site and the demos on the Business page show the kind of websites and systems I can deliver. Beyond that, you get the person who did the work, every time, and an honest answer about whether I'm the right person for the job.
Background
What I actually studied
Useful mostly for business customers deciding whether I can build the thing they need. If you're here about a printer, none of this matters — just ring me.
Software & web development
Building web applications end to end — the interface people use, the logic underneath, and the database behind that. This site is my own work.
Machine learning & computer vision
Training and deploying image classification models, including making them explain their own decisions rather than acting as a black box.
Systems & automation
Connecting separate systems so information moves between them by itself, and building the automated pipelines that keep the process running.
The practical version: if you need a website, a system to replace a spreadsheet, or a job doing itself instead of being typed out three times, that's the work I'm trained for.
The way I work, in six lines.
- You'll know what something costs before I start it.
- You'll never be asked for a banking password or a PIN.
- I'll explain what I'm changing before I change it.
- If it isn't worth paying me for, I'll say so.
- If it's beyond me, I'll tell you rather than learn on your money.
- No jargon. If I use a word you don't know, ask and I'll drop it.
Where I work
Based in East Wiltshire, covering the wider Wiltshire area
Home visits across the county and the surrounding villages. If you're a little further out, ask — it's usually still fine, and I'll tell you honestly if it isn't. Business work can often be done remotely wherever you are.

Happy to talk it through
Whether it's a laptop that won't behave or a system your business has outgrown, tell me about it. Working out what's actually needed is my job.
